My Brother Knights:
This year's Surge
with Service Program ended on March 1, 2008. There were some impressive projects
reported on from all over the State of Maine. This year there were over 1200
reports submitted by over 55 Councils before the deadline and I strongly believe
that there were many more activities that went unreported.
At this time I would like to encourage the District Deputies, the Grand Knights and the Program Directors to continue their efforts to report the charitable activities being held around the State by local councils.
My justification for promoting continued reporting can be supported by the following three points:
1. Any reports submitted from now until next March will be credited towards the next Program Year. Please, do not wait until the last minute to submit reports.
2. The Fraternal Year runs from July 1 to June 30 and that continued activities should be reported in a timely fashion in order to qualify for the Supreme Columbian Award. The absolute deadline for submittals to Supreme for the Columbian Award is June 30, 2008.
3. Surge with Service is not just about awards and meeting deadlines. As stated in the booklet the program is designed to establish EACH council as an influential and important force within the community, elevate the status of programming personnel, provide more meaningful and relevant programs of action, establish direct areas of responsibility, build leadership and ensure the success of council programs.
Your challenge is to follow the Program Surge with Service!!!
If anyone needs any assistance feel free to contact me at any time.

A NOTE FROM AN EARLIER REPORT
The Supreme Council and the State Council have some great programs for us to follow. I urge every Council to create an active Service Program and you will see the following benefits:

1.
Gives members a chance to be involved; |
There are only three months left in this program year and there are still forty-four councils (that is 10 better than last year) that have not submitted any reports to-date as evidenced by the accompanying report. Hopefully the holiday season will generate the right opportunities for each and every council.
District Deputies, Grand Knights and Program Directors please note how your councils are doing in the program and take an active role in improving your council's status.
